Mirik is a small town in Darjeeling district, especially famous for being a tourist location of one-day trip. The town of Mirik was basically famous in early days for its market, which allowed people from surrounding places to trade and purchase various items. There is a garden near the Mirik Lake; the area was previously a polo ground for British players. The Tourism Department of West Bengal Govt. started acquiring 335 acres of land from the neighbouring tea-estates and now it is a must-to-be-visited site during Darjeeling trips.
Mirik is well connected with Siliguri, at 52km distance, and Darjeeling town, at 49km distance. Bagdogra Airport and New Jalpaiguri Railway Stations are nearest connection point towards Mirik by flight and trains respectively. You can easily avail buses, cars or shared jeeps to this town from Siliguri and Darjeeling and vice versa.
