Namchi is a frequently visited tourist site in the Northeast Indian state of Sikkim. The town is also the district headquarter of South Sikkim. Namchi is known as the culture capital of the state. It is located at a height of 1675m above sea level amidst the Himalayas. That is why a warm and temperate weather with enough rainfall forms the weather of Namchi.
Namchi is well accessible from Siliguri and Gangtok, which are located at distance of around 90km and 80km respectively. Private cars, shared jeeps, cabs are easily available to travel towards this small tourist town from the major towns nearby like Siliguri and Kalimpong in West Bengal and Gangtok, Pelling and Jorethang in Sikkim. Bagdogra Airport and New Jalpaiguri Railway Station are the nearest access to Namchi by flights and trains respectively.
