Ravangla is a small and beautiful town amidst the Himalayan hills. It is situated in the Indian state of South Sikkim, at an average height of 7000 ft. above the sea level. Located in the lower hills of the Himalayas, Ravangla holds a warm and temperate climate, with a good amount of rainfall per year. The upper part of Ravangla receives snowfall in winter.
Orchids and rhododendrons bloom in Ravangla during the months of April and May, along with lots of other flowers. The flora of Ravangla is primarily represented with large variety of Himalayan birds like blue-fronted redstarts, dark-throated thrush, white-browned fantails, babblers and so on, even the rare species of satyr tragopan.
Ravangla is well connected with other state towns like Pelling and Gangtok by a state highway. Also it can directly be accessed from Siliguri, Darjeeling and Kalimpong towns in West Bengal. Several taxis, shared jeeps, private buses and rental cars are available from these places to Ravangla.
