Places to Visit in Kalimpong

Deolo Hill

This hill is famous as a viewpoint and an exquisite picnic spot in East Kalimpong. Deolo Hill is favourite to tourists and people who live nearby for one or two days’ trip.There is parkland, created by tourism department, which offers mesmerising view of Durpin Hill, the town and valley around and Mt Kanchenjunga.

Dr. Graham’s Homes

In 1900, a missionary was founded on the way to Deolo Hill by Dr. J A Graham for the orphan Anglo-Indian children. Over the years, it developed and now it is spread over 500 acres of area and 50 cottages.

Lord Buddha Statue

While visiting Deolo Hill, one can visit the beautiful rock garden, where a statue of Lord Buddha is counted as a Kalimpong local sightseeing spot.

Morgan House

Morgan House is a very interesting Kalimpong tourist spot. An old British property with colonial architecture is now converted into a hotel, run by Tourism Department of WB Govt, with restricted entry in some rooms for tourists.

Mangal Dham

In the memory of Late Guruji Mangal Dasji, a temple complex was built in Kalimpong. The temple is actually dedicated to Lord Krishna.


During 1692, a monastery was built here, which is severely known as Bhutan Monastery. Located close to Mangal Dham, this is the oldest monastery in Kalimpong.

Nature Interpretation Centre

Known as the Science City of Kalimpong, the Nature Interpretation Centre is one of the famous Kalimpong tourist places.It’s a museum run by forest department, showcasing many pictures and paintings of flora and fauna of Kalimpong area, which explains the nature and environment.


The Zang Dog Palri Monastery was built in 1972, which contains some Buddhist scripts brought by Dalai Lama. The monastery is located on the Durpin Hill. You can observe the town, Teesta River, Reang River, valley and plains from the upper terraces of the building.
